She became famous after she scored her most perfect ever 10 on an asymmetrical bar at the Montreal Olympic Games. In addition, Comaneci had six other perfect 10s which made her fourteen years age, the youngest Olympic medallist in every category. The Romanian gymnast was able to attract international attention and help Romania get its place on the world map. In achieving an unachievable result she became an iconic image and helped promote athletics across the globe. This changed the perception of female athletes. Her impact on the Olympics was so significant that her two moves such as the toe-on movement as well as the release move were named after her. Both have been rated as high-level difficulty.
